A new wave of resistance against the Kinder Morgan pipeline is rising up in British Columbia. Today, thousands of supporters join members of Tsleil-Waututh Nation and Indigenous leaders from across North America on unceded Coast Salish Territory (Vancouver) to make their voices heard. If built, Kinder Morgan’s pipeline would threaten the land, water, communities, and climate. We can’t let this happen. DOUBLE TAP if you stand with Indigenous Peoples to #ProtectTheInlet!

On the 8th of March people around the world take to the streets wearing purple and calling for equity. And so does Greenpeace.
To honour international women’s day we are changing our logo and our colour. And we are committing to change ourselves for the millions of women who fight every day #IWD2018

What’s a penguins favorite relative? Aunt Arctica! ⠀
This striking snapshot thanks to @danielbeltraphoto, captures Adélie penguins on route to the Weddell Sea in the Antarctic Peninsula. The crew on board the Arctic Sunrise is there conducting scientific research and documenting the Antarctic’s unique wildlife, to strengthen the proposal to create the largest protected area on the planet, an Antarctic Ocean Sanctuary. No matter who you are, we all breathe the same air. Last week, people from all walks of life joined the Clean Air Greenpeace India campaign. Mumbai is one of the most polluted cities in the world and poor air quality is a serious threat to local people’s health. Air quality control regulation in the state is just not good enough! That’s why people are demanding a Regional Clean Air Action Plan from the Maharashtra government. Here we can see a drums circle lead by local performing group Taal Inc. ⠀

In the small town of Port Augusta, SA, residents have been dealing with the coal-dust and stench from the closed down coal-fired power plant for years. They’re (literally) sick and tired of of it, and they’re not taking it anymore. The town has come together to demand the site – including Bird Lake on this photo – be remediated. ⠀

Happy International Polar bear day everyone! Did you know Polar bears and penguins are literally poles apart? Penguins live in Antarctica while polar bears only live in the Arctic. But both of their homes are under threat. Let’s protect them together. Link in bio!

“No more weapons to kill civilians” ☮🕊✊
Last week, activists from @greenpeace_esp stopped an arms shipment, bound for the countries of the Saudi-led coalition involved in the war in Yemen, for several hours. Their aim, to prevent these weapons from being used against civilians and demand transparency over the Spanish arms trade. Since the war in Yemen began in March 2015, 9,245 civilians have been killed and 52,807 have been injured. But instead of meeting their obligations under international humanitarian and human rights laws, the Spanish government has authorised illicit shipments of war materials. Don’t you think it’s time governments stopped profiting off the war machine and put a real effort into peace, instead? #PeoplePower #GivePeaceaChance #LovenotWar #Activism #Pacifism #NonViolence via Instagram http://ift.tt/2oglV8h

Tropical Cyclone Gita devastated Tonga overnight, making landfall with wind speeds of about 195km/h, injuring people and destroying homes. Gita is now tracking towards Fijian waters and is predicted to hit Viti Levu, Fiji’s largest island this evening.
Warming oceans due to climate change are making these cyclones more intense. Stay strong, Tonga and Samoa – and stay safe, Fiji. ❤️ via Instagram http://ift.tt/2H8ZhYh
